Fontevraud L'Abbaye is inbetween Saumur and Chinon, approximately 16 kilometers from each of the towns with their famous chateaus and is a few minutes drive south from Montsoreau on the river Loire.
It takes roughly 3 and a half hours to get there by car from St Malo or about 6 hours from Calais.
There are good train connections to Saumur from Paris and Tours
The village of fontevraud is about one hour's drive from three airports - Angers, Poitiers or Tours.
